Inglese parlato: panoramica

  • Uso massiccio di contrazioni: I haveI've, do notdon't
  • Riduzioni fonetiche: going togonna, want towanna, got togotta, let melemme
  • Risposte brevi: Are you coming?Yeah, Nope, Yep, Sure
⚠️ Attenzione: scrittura formale

Contrazioni come gonna, wanna, gotta, ain't, dunno NON vanno usate in email di lavoro, documenti, esami o scrittura formale. Sono accettate in chat, messaggi, social, conversazione informale.

Mixed Conditional

📐 Formula

TipoStrutturaEsempio
Past → PresentIf + Past Perfect, would + VIf I had studied harder, I would be a doctor now.
Present → PastIf + Past Simple, would have + V3If I were more careful, I wouldn't have lost it.
If you had told me yesterday (passato), I would know what to do now (presente).
If I were a better cook (presente), I would have made dinner last night (passato).
🗣 Spoken

Molto utile nelle discussioni e nei rimpianti reali. Frequente nei dialoghi emotivi. If I'd left earlier, I'd be home now è una delle frasi più usate per esprimere rimpianto sul tempo presente.

Question tags — "vero?" alla fine della frase

L'equivalente di "vero?", "no?", "giusto?" in italiano.

📐 Regola
  • Affermativa + tag negativa: You're tired, aren't you?
  • Negativa + tag affermativa: You aren't tired, are you?
  • Il tag usa lo stesso ausiliare della frase principale; se manca, si usa do/does/did: She works here, doesn't she?
  • Se la frase ha I am, il tag è aren't I? (irregolare): I'm late, aren't I?
⚠️ Intonazione

Intonazione discendente = il parlante è quasi sicuro, cerca conferma: It's cold, isn't it? ↘ (so che è freddo).
Intonazione ascendente = il parlante è incerto, fa una vera domanda: You're coming, aren't you? ↗ (non sono sicuro).

🗣 Spoken — equivalenti informali

Negli Stati Uniti si usa molto right? al posto delle question tags: You're coming, right?
Altre forme colloquiali: huh? (USA), eh? (Canada/UK), yeah?, isn't it? usato come fissato (BrE).

🗣 Spoken — connettori del parlato

I connettori più frequenti nella conversazione:

  • and / but / so / because dominano: forme semplici vincono sempre.
  • plus (più colloquiale di moreover): It's cheap, plus it's reliable.
Anyway, as I was saying...
  • though a fine frase: significa "però" colloquiale. It's expensive. I like it, though.
  • besides: aggiunge un argomento. I'm tired. Besides, it's late.
  • otherwise: "altrimenti". Take your umbrella, otherwise you'll get wet.

Filler words & discourse markers — Suonare naturale

I filler aiutano ma vanno dosati: troppi like, you know, basically rendono il discorso confuso e infantile.

"an apple" → /ənˈæpəl/, "want to" → /ˈwɒnə/). Ascolta i podcast a velocità normale.
🎯 Vocabolario tematico
  • Idioms (modi di dire): break the ice, hit the books, piece of cake, under the weather, hit the road, in a nutshell
  • Collocations: combinazioni fisse di parole (make a decision NON do a decision; strong coffee, heavy rain, fast food).
  • Business English: terminologia specifica (KPIs, stakeholders, deliverables, alignment, bandwidth, runway).
🎯 Aree grammaticali avanzate
  • Causative form: have/get something done (far fare): I had my hair cut.
  • Subjunctive: I suggest (that) he be more careful.
  • Inversione enfatica: Never have I seen such a thing!
  • Cleft sentences: It was John who called. / What I need is time.
  • Relative clauses (who, which, that, whose, where): The man who called is here. Distinzione defining (no virgole) vs non-defining (con virgole).
  • Wish / If only: I wish I were younger. / If only I had known.
🎯 Pragmatica & registri
  • Politeness: usare could / would al posto di can / will, aggiungere please, indirettezza (I was wondering if you could…).
  • British vs American English: oltre alle differenze grammaticali, vocabolario diverso (lift/elevator, flat/apartment, lorry/truck, biscuit/cookie, autumn/fall) e ortografia (colour/color, organise/organize, centre/center).
  1. Input massiccio: podcast (es. "All Ears English", "The Daily", BBC Radio 4), serie TV in inglese con sottotitoli inglesi (non italiani).
  2. Shadowing: riascolta una frase e ripetila imitando ritmo, intonazione, pause.
  3. Parla a voce alta con te stesso: spiega cosa stai facendo, racconta la tua giornata.
